The impact of the collision caused two juvenile passengers—a 9-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy—to be ejected into the water. The vessel’s operator, Stephen Schneider, 63, of Bayville, and passenger Laurie Schneider, 64, of Bayville, immediately began searching for the children following the crash.

Authorities reported that the two juveniles were located unresponsive in the water and brought from the scene for emergency medical treatment. Despite efforts by first responders and medical personnel, both children were later pronounced deceased at a nearby hospital.
