The Laragh United GAA community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of senior player James Coyle, whose tragic passing has left teammates, coaches, supporters, and residents deeply saddened. The club announced the devastating news with profound regret, paying tribute to a young man who dedicated much of his life to representing Laragh United both on and off the field.
James was a valued member of the club and proudly wore the Laragh United colors throughout his sporting journey. From his earliest days in underage football through to the U20 ranks and eventually the senior panel, he demonstrated commitment, determination, and a genuine love for the game. His progression through every level of the club reflected not only his talent as a player but also his dedication to his teammates and community.
Those who knew James describe him as a respected teammate, loyal friend, and positive influence within the club. His passion for Gaelic games and his strong connection to Laragh United made him a familiar and admired figure among players and supporters alike. Beyond his contributions on the field, he was remembered for his character, kindness, and the friendships he built throughout the years.
In a statement, Laragh United GAA Club extended its deepest sympathies to James’ family, including his mother, Majella, his brother Liam, his sisters Eleanor and Eimear, and all extended family members and friends who are grieving this tremendous loss.
As a mark of respect and remembrance, the club announced that all scheduled activities would be postponed. The decision reflects the profound impact James had on the organization and the sorrow being felt throughout the community.
The club has also invited members to participate in a guard of honour ahead of James’ funeral. Participants will assemble at St. Brigid’s Church, Laragh, at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday before the 12:00 noon funeral service, with members encouraged to wear club colors as a tribute to their fallen teammate.
As family, friends, and the wider GAA community come together to honor James Coyle’s life, they do so with gratitude for the memories he created and the legacy he leaves behind. His presence will be greatly missed, but his contributions to Laragh United GAA will never be forgotten.
